Patterns from heaven

After my recent visit to Morocco, I couldn’t help but snap a few interiors & in particular this light,  such a simple fitting and yet such a stunning effect!  I’ve seen various styles over the many years in the industry, but this really caught my imagination.  My hat goes up to their designer!  The painted walls in muted colours provided the perfect platform to show off the intricate fretwork within the design, so inspirational…

For me, its a gentle reminder as to the  complexity of interior design, faced with a neglected building we are just given a brief and sometimes not a very clear one, due to the client simply not being able to communicate their ideal finished space, which must be so frustrating for them.  I’ve found using images are by far the best way to go, it doesn’t matter if it’s an image of a dress, flowers or garden gate, a good designer will get the vibe and start to massage and move it into an understandable format for the client and work collaboratively, it’s great when you see a client’s face light up when they feel you’ve “got it”  although it really needs to be balanced with allowing the designer to do their job, after all that’s why you’ve commissioned them, I did a video some years ago which pretty much covers this, if you’ve got a minute it’s probably worth view?
