Tis the season…
Tis the season….
The festive season is well and truly upon us; and whether your excitement levels peak like that of a child on Christmas eve, or you find your inner Grinch muttering “Bah Humbug!” – no one can escape without even a little Christmas décor sneaking into the home. In many ways, Christmas is a wonderful opportunity to inject a bit of sparkle and luxury into an interior. Gone are the days of splattering a rainbow of tinsel and ceiling garlands across the living room! There is a fantastic array of decorations and accessories on offer, to help any budding interior designer make stylish and considered decisions when it comes to Christmas décor.
One of our favourite Christmas schemes at the moment, is the winter wonderland! With its natural textures and tones of white and silver, it is understated and luxurious, and fits in with most interiors, without being too obvious. Don’t be frightened of using hints of gold in this scheme – it is on trend and really adds interest and style. We love this White Company Christmas table, especially the use of mirrored place mats, which bounce the light around the room.
If you’re a little more daring, an opulent scheme couldn’t be more fitting at this time of year. Think velvets, reds, greens, dark woods, gold’s, glass… the more, the better! A large space is the ideal with this, but if your interior is smaller, clever use of the right accessories can create just as much impact! This Christmas interior is the ultimate in luxury and brings the more traditional Christmas décor, right up to date, with an unashamed fanfare! India Jane has spoilt us with accessories to compliment this theme.
Of course, there are those who don’t favour traditional Christmas décor, and there are no limits with this one. A great starting point is to take an existing accent colour, and go from there. Who says Christmas interiors have to be in red, green or silver? As always, Designers Guild has some great ideas to bring some luxury to a very unique Christmas interior.
The list of Christmas décor themes really is an endless one as, like interior design, it depends on the client’s own taste and style. However, I do find that because the Christmas decorations are only up for a short time, people tend to be a little more adventurous in their choices. Remember that when Christmas is over – sometimes a spirit of adventure can turn a tired space into a beautiful and luxurious interior!
